Innovation Process In order for organizations to become successful or maintain an ongoing success, they need to accommodate any necessary changes needed while remaining on a competitive edge. With this known, companies such as Coca-Cola have easily shown their success by becoming the largest manufacturer, marketer, and distributor of nonalcoholic beverages by which the company has products sold in 200 counties world wide. In this paper Team B will identify and explain the four phases of the innovative process. Using Coca-Cola as the subject company, there will also be discussions on the applications of the innovative process and identifying the tools and techniques that can be found useful in the process. Incentives represent appropriate tools found valuable in the innovative process. Incentives constitute inspirational aspects of promoting innovation in an organization. Incentives boost creative thinking, increase the amount of ideas people come up with, boost morale and focus, and ensure star contributor retention. Coca Cola rewards its employees on taking risk and finding new ways to solve problems in the company. This is an â€Å"Act Like Owner† approach for the company. Finding different cliques are not that hard, but knowing who they are and adapting the environment is one of the hardest thing to do in high school. Finding a wrong clique can lead anyone straight down to a life of hell or worse. Students who entering high school can identify the types of cliques of student are in, and join up with whatever cliques that their find is good for them. Huckleberry Finn Persuasive Essay The character Huck Finn, portrayed in the classic novel Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain, is a fun loving and adventurous young man. Only Mr. Twain knows his exact age, as it is never mentioned once in the novel. We can only guess that he is in his early teens. Mr. Twain also does not give an accurate description of Huck in the book either. Judging from the many things that he does, you can tell that he is neither a muscular person nor a skimpy weakling. He has the physique of a run of the mill country farm boy. The narration of this novel is very interesting. I liked how they reproduced the southern vernacular in its true form. This book is also narrated from Huckleberry Finns point of view. This makes the book more interesting at times because you actually can tell what Huck is thinking during given situations. He is also a very literal narrator, He tells everything as accurately as he can and never really exaggerates the situations to any remarkably big extent. This is also a very humorous book and Huck, being very literal minded, has no sense of humor. He doesnt get the punch lines to jokes or funny situationswhen the drunk man was riding a horse, he thought that he was not really an acrobat. Also, he took the age old joke about where mosses was when the lights went out seriously. This also makes him such an enjoyable chara cter and makes the book so enjoyable to read. Just that at times he can seem like an idiot, like when he really belived, for quite a while, that genies existed and that he could rub a lamp and get his wishes granted. I like this narration style because it really helps you to get to know Huck from his internal actions and reactions. Its hard to tell a lot about a character by how he talks sometimes, thats why I prefer this narration style to others. It seems that Huck has a very strange personality. I would describe his personality as free. He does everything he wants and nothing seems to stand in his way for long. He definitely wouldnt be considered a proper young man by todays standards. For instance, he prefers to wear tattered, loose fitting, rags to nice clean cloths. I guess it goes along with his personality. He also prefers to eat differently than we would. He likes all of his food to be mixed up in one pot, compared to the normal way of eating with different dishes and food on separate areas of our plates. I would consider Huck to be more of an outdoorsman. He loves to be outside with nature and doesnt like to be indoors that much. In fact, in the book he is never really inside on his own free will. He would rather be outside on his adventures. He likes the simpler way of life. Hucks personality is also very adaptable. He is a country boy at heart but adapted to the high class living of the Widow. He can then quickly adapt to living in the woods with Pap, or on a raft with Jim. He could even adapt to living with the Grangerfords. He seems to act very natural during these different situations. This helps him function and interact with others more easily. At times Huck doesnt show very good common sense or compassion. Like when he teased Jim when he was locked up in a cell. They would give him a ladder to escape, but he was in a one-story cell. Then they would give him chains because if he was jailed up he should be in chains. They also gave him pieces of metal to make into saws to cut himself out. They could have just given him a saw! We were not required to read these chapters because they did not fit in the book at all and were just a waste of space because it didnt accurately portray Hucks personality. Huck would not have left him in there for so long. They sometimes made absolute no sense and didnt fit in with the novel. They could have easily have been left out of the book and it still would have been a classic. They way Huck behaved in the aforementioned paragraph was clearly not thought out the way the rest of the book was. Huck is one of Americas favorite fictional characters and I can see why, for most of the book. Overall, Huckleberry Finn is a superbly written character. Despite how simple minded he may seem, he has a few qualities that are lacking in modern books, and from books of the time. He is the main reason that this book is such an enjoyable experience to read, and Im sure that it will be loved for many years to come.

The Politics And Culture Of The 1960S Hippie Movement The Politics and Culture of the 1960s Hippie Movement As the nineteen fifties turned into the early sixties, the United States remained the same patriotic, harmonious society of the previous decade; often a teen's most difficult decision was choosing what color lipstick to wear to the prom. Yet after 1963, a dramatic change slowly developed in the cultural, social, and political beliefs of America, particularly the youth. The death of President Kennedy, the new music, the quest for civil rights, the popularity of mind-altering drugs, the senselessness of the Vietnam War, and the invention of the birth control pill reacted like an imbalanced chemical equation to formulate a new American counterculture: the hippie. Contrasting with ever-dominant mainstream society, the layed back hippie nobly tried to change the world not by force, but through peace and love. Though not entirely successful, the hippie movement clearly marked the mid- to late-nineteen sixties and early seventies as a mi xture of peace and brotherly love with sex, drugs, and rock and roll. The formal definition of a hippie is one who does not conform to social standards, advocating a liberal attitude and lifestyle. However, the true definition of a hippie in unclear; no interpretation could categorize every person who fits into the ambiguous category of a hippie. According to Phoebe Thompson's definition, being a hippie is a choice of philosophy. Hippies are generally antithetical to structured hierarchies, such as church, government, and social castes. The ultimate goal of the hippie movement is peace, attainable only through love and toleration of the earth and each other. Finally, a hippie needs freedom, both physical freedom to experience life and mental freeness to remain open-minded (12-13). In the view of some historians, thus, Thoreau and Ghandi were hippies, and hippies continue to exist today (25). Yet what unique qualities characterized the American hippies of the nineteen sixties, and ho w did this movement gain enough power to influence millions of teenagers? The nineteen fifties was one of America's most prosperous (and dull) decades. Conformity and nationalism swept the nation; television sitcoms reinforced old-fashioned family values; the typical teenager aspired for the all-American look and personality. Yet music had already planted the seeds of rebellion; Rock and Roll began to sweep the nation. Kids wore leather jackets, violated curfews, and considered themselves rebels, though oddly with no cause. The rebellion craze was epitomized by Marlon Brado's role in the film The Wild One. When asked: What are you rebelling against, he responded: Whatta you got? The music of Elvis and other rock bands caused the rebellion; all the teens needed was a cause (Manning 32-34). The Vietnam War began as President Kennedy's effort to protect the free world from Communism. Kennedy, a well-liked president, received little war opposition from the people. He was young and suppo rted free-spiritedness, open-mindedness, and equality; at his assassination in 1963 only 15,000 troops were in Vietnam. Under Lyndon Johnson the number of soldiers skyrocketed, however, reaching 500,000 in 1966. Television broadcasts from overseas became more gruesome and the deaths more tragic. The nightly news counted the dead and described compiling destruction, and many political and literary figures began to speak out publicly against keeping US troops in Vietnam (Harding 56-9). Though Johnson continually promised a swift end to the war, the Tet Offensive of 1968 finally proved otherwise. A surprise attack on American soldiers caused a significant loss of land and life; the Communists were apparently nowhere near defeat (Buchholz 861)! Shiploads of American boys came too and from Vietnam, only too many of those returning home were riding in a coffin. The hippie movement germinated in San Francisco, with the Vietnam War at its core. The movement eventually spread to the East Coa st as well, centralized in New York's East Village in addition to the Haight-Asbury district of San Francisco and Sunset Strip of Los Angeles (Buchholz 858). Disgusted by conformity, culture, and politics, some hippies abandoned society to live in isolated communes; by 1970 over 200 communes existed, maintaining 40,000 youths.
